Great Sites? LMK!!!

I spent most of Monday morning searching for websites that would be beneficial to you. As parents and as women. I didn't intend to overlook the men but I figured that most of my readers were women so I searched for sites that would have an interest to women.

I managed to find some fun sites on fashion, a couple of great sites from pastors and a site I never really heard of before...but it seemed interesting enough...so I added it.

I want to hear what sites you love. What do you have bookmarked and what do you go back to over and over?

Help me to make the IE Mommy a blog that has a wide selection of resources for you! If you post a blog or have a friend or family member that posts a blog...give them a shout out here.

Please make sure that all sites are family friendly and G-rated! Our goal at the IE Mommy is to always glorify God in our journey to becoming better moms, wives and women!

Can't wait to see what you'll come up with!

I Was On The Radio!

We had a blast on Saturday! We had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the "Let's Dine Out Show" with Allan Borgen!

Allan is the food critic with 590 AM (KTIE). They are a local radio station located out of San Bernardino. Lots of great talk shows with a conservative side.

My husband met Allan a few weeks ago and after some conversation was invited to go to dinner to critique a local restaurant. Of course, my wonderful hubby took me along! Woohoo FREE food, lol.

We went to the Mill Creek Cattle Company. It is in Mentone and was such a wonderful restaurant. Very kid friendly, very relaxed and very, very yummy. I am totally dying to go back.!

My utmost favorite things were the Dixie Chicken, The Pear Salad and the Onion Sticks....YUMMY!

Everyone at the radio station was a blast and very friendly. We had the opportunity to meet some great people that day. During the time we were there we were introduced to Chefs, Travel Execs, Cruise Ship Management and of course, the wonderful Jeff Williams (Allan's co-host).

I am hoping that we didn't sound too dumb. You know like those people on the news they interview after a big 5-car pile up... "Uh...yeah, um, yeah like there were 5 cars and they crashed, um, uh, and...." Get what I mean.

I guess it's too late if we did huh?

Being on the radio was fun...I want to do it again. I wonder if I could convince Allan and Jeff to have a "Mommy" segment or maybe a "Best Spas in the IE" show. Oh, I could so be willing to "sacrifice" for that.

If you'd like to hear our segment just click "HERE".
We were on during the 1st hour on January 17Th. You'll have to scroll to the very end if you just want to hear our part or you can listen to the entire thing...they are really funny and a great team!

Friends...listen up..if you have a chance to go to that restaurant...one word..."GO"

It is pretty cool to be able to say that I was on the radio and I can't "Thank" Allan and Jeff enough for allowing us the opportunity to do so!

It rocked guys and so do you!

Playhouse Disney Live? More like Dead!

My husband has been dying to visit the new arena in Ontario, Citizen's Bank Arena so when he had the chance to purchase "Playhouse Disney" live tickets he was excited to do so for the twins.

We have been anticpating this event for a long time. It would have all of the great Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald. Plus, the new fun characters like The Little Einsteins, Handy Manny and My Friends, Tigger & Pooh!

Right after church on Sunday we rushed home, had lunch and changed for the fun day we were expecting. The twins wore adorable, boutique style Minnie Mouse overalls. Sadly, I have to say I didn't sew these but a sweet lady from eBay did. They looks so cute...complete with their names on their butts!.

That is where the excitement died....

I am so incredibly disappointed in the show and the in the arena. I will never go back to see Playhouse Disney Live and I will very reluctantly go back to Citizen's Bank Arena.

The event got off to a bad start when the security wouldn't let me into the arena with my camera. They claimed my NikonD40 was a professional camera. Now, it is not the fact that they didn't let me into the arena, it was the manner in which the so called securty spoke to me in front of my children (Todd was in the car on a business call at this time, thank God). They were very rude, disrespectful and demeaning. When I asked to speak with a supervisor they actually told me that I could "AFTER" the show! Of course, that didn't sit well and I asked for their names to which they replied "It's on our badges".......Oh, it was all I could do to not lose it in front of my children.

We walked back to the car to put the camera away and decided to go in a different entrance. I did manage to meet the General Manager and spoke with him...but, he wasn't much help...so alas, I will be writing letters to everyone that is anyone within those two organizations.

Again, not because of the camera but because of the way I was treated. This was a kid's show afterall not a heavy metal concert!

Once we were inside...I thought it would be better...but it wasn't.

This was such a "dead" show.

The arena itself was fine...a bit small and the rows were incredible close together but it was okay, it worked.

But the show itself was b-o-r-i-n-g! Yes, I know I am an adult and probably shouldn't expect to me mentally stimulated by a kid's show...but even my twins weren't excited. In fact, neither were the little 2 - 4 year olds around us!

The light display and shows were very, very minimal. The sound was not the chair vibrating sound you generally get at these shows and the characters (adults dressed at the characters) were a bit scary. We paid $160 dollars for these tickets and I think we would have had a lot more fun if we had gone to see the movie, Hotel for Dogs!

Look, I am not trying to bash anyone but if you are going to spend a lot of money and to me that is a lot of money for tickets...to a kid's show. Then your kids need to really enjoy themselves.

The twins said they enjoyed it. Although they haven't spoken about the show, the venue or the characters once in the last 3 days since the event. Every mom out there means one thing - It was LAME because when kids are excited they talk non-stop.

I don't know if writing letters to Citizen's Bank or to Disney will do a thing but it will definitely make me feel better. At this point I don't want to give either company a penny more then I have already done. Which is really sad because we received Annual Passes to Disneyland as a gift!

Ugh!

Slower Then A Snail

I have always wanted to knit. Even before there was a Hollywood Knitting craze it was something that I wanted to learn. When we had our PJ party a couple of days ago I jumped at the chance to learn how to knit. It came fairly easy and naturally to me and I was excited to create a "masterpiece".

My mother in law, sister in law, friends, mother, and host of other ladies can knit so I was confident that I would be able to it too! Well, it is done! I have accomplished my scarf.

Yes, I had to start over about, oh 6 or 7 times. But it is done! I see all the little imperfections but I am really proud of myself for creating something and finishing the project.

I am totally starting to love scarves. I have received a few this Holiday season and I totally enjoy accessorizing my outfits with them.

In fact, I have decided that I will be adding a couple of scarves for sale at my site, GetTheCrown. Don't worry they will not be ones that I knitted.

Actually, I am not sure if knitting is my "thing". It took a long time for me to knit ONE scarf. A hobby should be relaxing and enjoyable and I just couldn't wait to be finished! I am not very good in the patience department so I like hobbies that are quick. Where you see results sooner rather then later. Maybe that's why I like photography so much?

Check GetTheCrown and my blog on Friday to see the sensational scarves that will be up for grabs....plus I'll be giving one away in a contest soon....

Keep checking back to make sure you're the first to know!

DeAnna You Messed Up!

I admit I really like reality TV. I am not sure how I became how I started this journey but I must confess that I am so excited because some of my favorite shows are back!

The Bachelor and American Idol are at the top of the list right now. Of course, I can not wait till this season’s Dances with The Stars. Oh my g-o-o-d-n-e-s-s how I enjoy that show.

I am a little hesitant to admit my guilty little pleasure because reality TV gets such a bad rap. But well, sorry...I like it! (I hope that doesn’t blow anyone’s image of me? lol)

I already have my pick of “favorite girl” on The Bachelor and truly hope that this is the time that Jason finds his “wife to be”. If anyone saw it last year...you know DeAnna really made Jason look foolish when he proposed and she said “no”.

American Idol is back and with a vengeance! I didn’t realize it started on Tuesday so I only got to see yesterday’s show. I’m so glad they are not showing all the horrific singers and snide comments this year...they have really scaled down that type of footage. I am thankful they did...it always broke my heart when they’d be mean to someone who really thought they could sing.

There are a couple of other newbies that I have been watching for fun. I love that I have a TiVo type of recording system with my television. It gives me the ability to live my life and keep my obligations and then...enjoy the shows I like at my convenience which is usually very early in the morning (twins are asleep) or light at night (twins are asleep)

I must, must warn you though to not watch “Superstars of Dance”....ZZZZZZ......what?
Oh, sorry...just the name puts me to sleep.

Now, I know that most of these shows are so edited that they can lead the viewer to whatever conclusion the studio execs want you to have. I don’t believe that they are really “reality”...but it’s fun!

I “WANT” to believe that Jason will find true love or that we are truly voting on a person’s talent and not looks or popularity on American Idol. It just fun!

What can I say...I still want to believe in Santa and The Easter Bunny too!
